Gordon Banks has been named the 2nd best goalkeeper in the 20th Century by International Federation of Football History & Statistics. He was born in 1937 in Sheffield, on leaving school he became a coal bagger and then a brick layer before being signed by Chesterfield.

Banks made his debut playing in goal for England in 1963, England v Scotland and continued to play 73 matches for England and kept a clean sheet in 35 of those matches. Banks played in goal throughout the 1966 World Cup which saw England to Victory.
Banks is also known for the 'greatest save ever' from the 1970 England v Brazil match in Mexico where he stopped a 'certain goal' from Brazilian player Pele. In 1972, Banks was awarded the OBE. Two years later, his international football career was ended due to losing sight in one eye after a car crash.
