Stephen "Steve" McClaren is an English former professional footballer and former manager of the England national football team. He succeeded Sven-Göran Eriksson on 1 August 2006. On 22 November 2007, following England's failure to qualify for the 2008 UEFA European Football Championship, he was sacked by the FA. He is also a former manager of English Premiership team Middlesbrough. During his tenure he led the club to their only trophy to date, the 2004 Carling Cup, and to the final of the 2006 UEFA Cup. He is now manager of FC Twente in the Netherlands. |
